PROJECT UPDATE

Berrick Saul Building: University of York

We’re delighted to be working with GSSArchitecture, Link MEP Consulting Engineers Ltd and CK21 Ltd for the University of York on the refurbishment of the Berrick Saul Building.

This scheme forms an important part of the University’s wider programme to relocate the School of Archaeology from their historic Kings Manor base. The project will deliver a fit-for-purpose, modern research environment, including a highly specialised cleanroom-type facility for ancient DNA research – supporting world-leading academic work in a rapidly evolving field.

The design has now been issued for tender, with a contractor appointment expected ahead of works commencing on site in the new year. We’re targeting completion in summer 2026, enabling the building to be fully operational and ready to welcome staff and students for the start of the September 2026 academic year.
