The Auckland Project plans to develop a new hotel within Bishop Auckland. With a design that steps away from a typical mass market model, this hotel will be full of personality featuring stylish interiors, local art and fun social spaces.

The existing site is bounded by areas of mature landscape and houses a series of derelict properties that will likely be demolished to facilitate the new hotel. The hotel will provide active frontage and a sense of arrival giving a great first impression to a friendly, welcoming destination with great local character.

On the ground floor will be front of house areas including reception, bar, kitchen, servery and dining areas. On the upper floors will be guest bedrooms which will be well serviced and provide a comfortable and relaxed setting with a quality feel to them. The hotel will be well serviced with staff facilities and servicing provided in a quiet, organised and efficient manner.

The hotel will be located in an area of high heritage significance and will therefore provide a form and palette of materials that responds carefully to its surroundings.
