We’re pleased to share an exciting update on The Auckland Project Hotel in Bishop Auckland town centre. 

Planning approval has now been granted, marking a key milestone for this significant new development which will deliver high-quality, modern hotel facilities to complement The Auckland Project’s existing leisure and cultural offering.

MGL Group have recently been appointed to deliver the enabling works, including the demolition of existing properties on the site. With RIBA Stage 4 design now complete and tender documents in preparation, a main contractor appointment is expected in early 2026, ahead of a planned Spring 2027 opening.

This landmark project represents a major investment for Bishop Auckland and has required sensitive design and will call for careful, coordinated management during construction.
