Dome is providing Project Management, Cost management and additionally client internal Project Management services to Newcastle University for the Health Innovation Neighbourhood (HIN) HV Upgrade project.

Case study Details

High Voltage Upgrade, Newcastle University

Project Overview

Newcastle University buildings on the HIN site are currently fed from the HV circuits which were setup for the old General Hospital.  Vandalism and theft at the old General Hospital site resulted in damage to one of the substations and power outages for the NU buildings.

As a result of this and as part of the wider site masterplan, a new HV connection is required to increase resilience and allow for eventual decommissioning of the NHS HV network on the site.

The new connection will require a new substation, HV equipment, LV equipment and transformers.

Services and Value Added

Dome is acting as Estates Project Manager in addition to the usual roles of project manager, cost consultant and contract administrator and are working closely with RPS who have been appointed as HV designer.
