Project Overview

Newcastle University acquired the old General Hospital Site on Westgate Road with plans to develop a new Health Innovation Neighbourhood (HIN).  A masterplan has been developed, however in order for the masterplan to proceed, the vacant, derelict old hospital buildings need to be demolished.

MGL have been appointed as demolition contractor and a strong working relationship has developed, allowing for rapid resolution of issues on site to the satisfaction of NU users, while mitigating against delays.

Services and Value Added

Dome have been appointed to provide project management, contract administration & cost management services, and also support NU Estates by undertaking the internal Estates Project Manager role, leading on stakeholder management, obtaining permissions from statutory authorities and internal reporting.

We have driven forward a number of critical issues in order to secure a start on site in line with the University and partners wider masterplan programme.

Communication and reporting strategies have been agreed with a wide range of key stakeholders including the University, site users, NHS and the masterplan development partners.
